Can a Resveratrol Pill Help You Live Longer?

Resveratrol, like the acai berry, is becoming one of the most talked about health supplements of the year. After being featured on major talk shows and news programs, many people are wondering what this supplement is all about. Unlike a lot of wonder pills being marketed today, there is a lot of science behind resveratrol and some of the researches and scientists are convinced resveratrol could be the biggest medical breakthrough of all time.

Resveratrol can be found in some common foods and drinks you probably already eat. One of the most common drink sources is red wine. You can also get it in red grapes and peanuts. A glass of red wine and a cup of red grapes or peanuts all provide about the same amount of resveratrol. While any resveratrol may provide a health benefit, the levels of resveratrol that are being tested in the lab are much stronger than what you can find in food. Fortunately, there are resveratrol supplements available that are made from sources like red wine or Japanese knotweed that have a lot more resveratrol in them.

Resveratrol Supplements

You can get up to 500 times more resveratrol in some of the health supplements than you can in any of the common food sources. This is closer to what is being tested in the laboratory on diseases. You have a couple options when you look at a resveratrol supplement. You can buy a supplement that just has resveratrol or you can get a supplement that combines resveratrol with other ingredients like acai berry to create a high antioxidant health supplement. There are free trial offers available sometimes so you can get resveratrol for the price of shipping and handling. Just make sure you look at the terms of the trial so you can cancel the resveratrol supplement it if you don’t want future charges.

The biggest health claim that is being made about resveratrol is that it can extend your life. While the research is still new, initial findings are showing that resveratrol can cure some diseases associated with aging like cancer and diabetes. There have also been tests that show lab rats live longer when they are taking resveratrol supplements. With this said, there are still many years worth of testing to be done before anything will be approved as a medicine. Until then, you can only get resveratrol as a nutritional supplement.
